I wish there were a way to make “I don’t know” a positive thing, which it isn’t in our society. We feel that we need to “know” certain things, and we substitute that quest for the actual experience of things in all its complexity. skepticalscience: Supernovae are the biggest explosions astronomers have ever beheld. When a large, dying star runs out of fuel, sometimes it will die through a cataclysmic explosion. This explosion forms many of the elements that we see here on Earth, which is evidence to say that you and I are made out of the dust of a supernova. This is a remnant of supernova. It exploded many eons ago. All that remains is a giant cloud of gas and dust, which holds the building blocks of the planets and of life.
